Caribbean Carnival Beats the Rain

This year`s Caribbean Carnival in Leicester was just as spectacular as ever.

It is the largest event of its kind in England, apart from the world famous Notting Hill Carnival in London.

I am not always able to watch it, due to other commitments, but this time I was able to stand in Gallowtree Gate and see it go by. My wife Anne was also free, so we watched it together.

The weather wasn`t all that good, and in fact it did rain before the procassion arrived where we were waiting, but it soon dried out and completely failed to ruin the proceedings.

As usual, the costumes were colourful and jolly, and the whole thing was noisy, exuberant, and great fun.
