Tissington (A Coach Trip in Tissington)

“Tissington” is a Coach Trip devised and led by Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours. Colin is a Blue Badge Guide, and leads excursions and Guided Walks all through the year.

These excursions are an ideal way of soaking up some Local History.

The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester City Centre at 8am, and is expected back about 8pm.

Colin will be giving his usual commentary along the way.

Tissington is a lovely village in Derbyshire, in the gentler part of the Peak District.

The main purpose of the trip is to see the famous Well-Dressing. This takes place at villages across Derbyshire, but it is at Tissington that this regional tradition reaches its peak.

Six different wells are dressed at Tissington each Ascension Day (Thursday), and the dressings stay in place throughout the weekend.

There will be plenty of time in Tissington to look at all six wells, and there will then be a visit to Bakewell, one of the loveliest small towns in England.
