Richmond (A Coach Trip in Richmond)

“Richmond” is a Coach Trip devised and led by Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours, the Leicester-based Blue Badge Guide who runs excursions and Guided Walks throughout the year.

These excursions are a most enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.

The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester at 8am, and is due back about 9.30pm.

Colin will be giving his customary commentary along the way.

Richmond is an old market town in North Yorkshire, overlooking the River Swale, the fastest-running river in England, and is the capital of the area long known as Richmondshire.

A feature of Colin’s trips to historic towns is a Guided Walk, and this of course applies to Richmond.

During the walk Colin will be pointing out many places of interest, including the Norman Richmond Castle, enormous cobbled Market Place, St. Mary’s Church, Greyfriars Tower and celebrated Georgian Theatre.

Richmond was very much a frontier town in the years following the Norman Conquest, and today is a picturesque mixture of narrow streets and delightful riverside, captured on canvas by Turner.
