Kent Tour (A Coach Trip in Kent)

The "Kent Tour" is one of the many Coach Trips devised and led by the well known Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.

These trips are an enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.

The tour is around the historic county of Kent, the closest county to the Continent and the one which has been most affected by waves of invaders and other more peaceful visitors.

The coach leaves St. Margarets Bus Station in Leicester at 8am, and is due to return at about 9.30pm.

Colin gives his usual commentary along the way, pointing out places of interest and telling their stories in a way that makes his excursions quite unique.

There are three stops, each of about an hour.

Rochester is a historic cathedral city on the River Medway, whose story goes back to Roman times, and which is proud of its many connections with Charles Dickens.

Sandwich, although well inland now, was one of the Cinque Ports during the mediaeval period, and has a high proportion of picturesque listed buildings.

Canterbury is one of the most historic cathedral cities in the land, which also goes back to the Roman period, and which has been welcoming tourists and pilgrims since the murder of Archbishop Thomas a Becket in the 12th century.

And of course the coach goes through the lovely Kent countryside, full of delightful little towns and villages.
