Belgrave Cemetery (A Guided Walk in Leicester)

"Belgrave Cemetery" is one of the very popular Guided Walks devised and led by the well known Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.

These walks are an enjoyable way of learning some Local History.

The walk starts at Belgrave Cemetery Gates, situated in Red Hill Way, close to the junction with the A6 Loughborough Road, beside the giant roundabout and flyover known as Red Hill Circle.

It is of course a walk around Belgrave Cemetery, opened in 1881 to serve the old village of Belgrave, which by this time had become a suburb of Leicester.

During the walk, Colin discusses some of the fascinating people who are buried in the cemetery, including George Hilton and Stephen Hilton, who both rose to be Mayor of Leicester, and Alderman Richard Hallam, after whom a well known local school is named.

Colin also leads walks around Welford Road Cemetery, entitled "Welford Road Cemetery" and "Grave Attraction".
