Nuneham Courtenay (Nuneham Courtenay)

Nuneham Courtney is a historic house in the village of Nuneham Courtenay in Oxfordshire.

It was built s a Palladian villa in 1755 by Earl Harcourt on the original site of the village, which was moved a mile away, giving Oliver Goldsmith the inspiration for his poem "The Deserted Village".

Later, it was extended by architects Henry Holland and Robert Smirke.

The park is by Capabilty Brown, and was believed by Horace Walpole to be the most beautiful in England.
