Tower Hill (A Guided Walk in London)

“Tower Hill” is a Guided Walk in London devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.

These strolls are an ideal way of soaking up some Local History.

The walk starts outside Fenchurch Street Station, in Fenchurch Place.

The Tower of London, built by William the Conqueror just after the Norman Conquest in the mid-11th century, is one of this historic city’s best-known and most historic landmarks. It has been used over the centuries as a palace, fortress, prison, place of execution and even home to the Royal menagerie.

Although the walk does not go inside the Tower itself, it takes in much of the district close to the Tower. One of the City’s oldest churches, for example, All Hallows by the Tower, is close by, and there are sections of London’s Roman Wall still standing. In addition to this, the famous River Thames flows past the Tower.

“Tower Hill” is one of a number of walks led by Colin which look at the City’s history. These include “Churches of London”, “Street Names of London” and “Bow Bells”.
