The Grim Reaper (A Guided Walk in Leicester)

[An image showing The Grim Reaper]“The Grim Reaper” is a popular Guided Walk in Leicester, devised and led by the well-known Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.

These strolls are an enjoyable way of soaking up some Local History.

The walk starts outside the Town Hall in Leicester City Centre.

The subject is the Grim Reaper himself – alias Death – and how he has made his presence felt in Leicester.

During the walk, Colin discusses murders, Civil Wars and executions, including James Cook, who was the last man in England whose corpse was publicly gibbeted, and Peppermint Billy from Melton Mowbray, the subject of the last public hanging at Welford Road prison.

Also coming into the story is the terrifying Black Annis.

The walk extends into the oldest parts of Leicester, where many chapters of English history are set.
