Tales for Halloween (A Guided Walk in Quorn)

"Tales for Halloween" is a Guided Walk devised and led by Blue Badge Guide Colin Crosby, of Colin Crosby Heritage Tours.

These strolls are an ideal way of soaking up some Local History.

The walk starts at Quorn Cross, in the centre of the old village of Quorn.

During the walk, Colin will be regaling those taking part with stories of the ghostly and the ghastly.

Halloween is otherwise known as All Saints Eve, the night before All Saints Day. But it was important in the pre-Christian religion, as one of the two nights of the year when the seasons change, the other being the night before May Day.

Traditionally, on this night the boundaries between the land of the living and the land of the dead are blurred, so that it is possible to move between the two worlds.

So if you are going to see a ghost, this is probably the most likely night for it to happen.

Colin will be taking the party around some of the darker lanes of Quorn, where you never know whether the people you met are real flesh and blood people - or something else.

Along the way, stories will be told from Colin's wide repertoire of tales from around the country, including some of his own personal experiences.

There will also be the chance to recount any ghostly encounters that you have had.
